Resolved Question: Gordon Brown’s national tour – meeting the normal people – thoughts?

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009
I'd go with pointless publicity stunt. I saw him getting off his train in Yorkshire yesterday - he walked through the station - with approx. 10 advisers/ bag carriers, an entire press core and about 15 - 20 bodyguard people (not to mention the 10s or armed regular coppers and sniffer dogs) - as was shown when we tried to go and get a little closer - only to within about 20ft, when about 5 guys came from behind us (quite how they got behind us i've no idea, must have already been at the station) and said it was best if we didn't. He was then whisked away in a motorcade. I'm not denying his need for high-level security, but i'm a normal (ish) man, and i wanted a word, well more than a word, but due to the all the heavies, i'd've probably have just left it... I mean pointless publicity stunt compared to actual policy forming trip Future, excuse my insolence, but quite who are these "Crazies"? and what do they have to do with India and Pakistan? Do you mean Muslims? i do hope not. Yes, the main threat to Brown's live is probably Al'Quaeda, but branding over 2 million British Citizens as "crazies" is a little out of line. And just so you know, i'm a white-british atheist, i subscibe to no relegion, nor do i share any alleginace with one.

Voting Question: Can someone with limited resources file a lawsuit against an airline who mishandled his unaccompanied daughter?

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009
I had my daughter traveling as an international passenger on a major carrier. For extra protection and piece of mind I asked for unaccompanied service and gave the ticket counter agent my credit card to charge for the service. In one of the stops they removed her carry on to put in the bally of the airplane, then she remembered that her medication in that bag and advised the flight attendant. That is when all hell broke loose and the flight attendant tormented my daughter made her cry and pulled her of the flight with the intention to leave behind. I can't imagine what would have happened to my daughter; if one of the alert gate agents did not bring to inhospitable crew's attention that my daughter is traveling unaccompanied and that they are suppose to be responsible for her and boarded her back.

Open Question: Can you purchase a one-way ticket, intending to stay in the layover city?

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009
I want to fly from Billings to Salt Lake. Delta is the only non-stop carrier and they charge over $500 for the flight. However, I can purchase a ticket from Billings to Las Vegas with Delta for $140. Can I purchase the ticket to Vegas (that has a layover in Salt Lake), and just leave once I get to Salt Lake? Are there any repercussions to this? I figure I wouldn't be able to check bags, any other problems?

Resolved Question: Pet rat question – advice sought?

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009
I have 3 female dumbo rats still relatively young. They have a very large cage with a platform 2 hammocks and a bed pod. They were bought for my 2 children and have been excellent and very entertaining. We get them out each evening to handle and to exercise, because i dont want them roaming on the floor we have an old house with lots of gaps so could loose them, we put them in an old travel cot which has a wooden play house and they run up and down the stairs and in the rooms, We also put in a small baby bath for them to have a dip in and am currently looking for a small bag/carrier to put them in for walks outside etc. Any other suggestion on keeping them exercised but enclosed and safe. We hide treats in their cage to keep them alert but am concerned we are not doing enough. Your advice would be appreciated. I heard that the exercise balls were not suitable because the rats can get their tails trapped.

ADAM’s Approach: DAM Those Silos

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009
Almost a third of enterprise content represents multimedia digital assets today, yet few organisations strategically evaluate digital asset management (DAM) options. Instead, several siloed solutions often exist across an organisation. InfoTrends, the leading worldwide market research and strategic consulting firm for the digital imaging and document solutions industry, analysed ADAM Software's recent successes. The main differentiator is the fact that ADAM delivers a platform approach to the DAM market, making scalable, multimedia content and process services available across the gamut of...
